Southwold House

Southwold House provides personal care for up to 12 people with learning disabilities and/or autism, with ten residents at the time of inspection. The service is designed to blend seamlessly into its residential surroundings, with no identifying signs, cameras, or industrial features visible outside. Staff are discouraged from wearing uniforms when accompanying residents, supporting the home's approach to enabling people to live as ordinarily as possible within their communities. The building comprises four separate flats within a larger domestic property, helping to create a homely environment.

The home prioritises person-centred support that promotes control, choice, and independence for residents. Many residents display complex behaviours, and the registered manager has implemented systems to assess and monitor risk appropriately. While recruitment and retention of staff has presented challenges, sufficient staffing levels were in place at inspection to meet residents' needs and support them in achieving meaningful outcomes and engaging in full community lives.
