Solent Grange Nursing Home

Solent Grange Nursing Home, on the Isle of Wight, provides nursing care for people with a range of needs. The CQC rated the service Requires Improvement overall, finding breaches relating to consent, safe care and treatment, staffing and governance. Inspectors found weaknesses in risk management, medicines handling, safeguarding oversight and infection control, and said quality checks were not consistently effective at identifying or fixing problems.

Feedback from people and relatives was largely positive, describing staff as kind and respectful, which supported a Good rating for Caring. However, some raised concerns about slow call bell responses, uneven access to activities for people cared for in bed, and inconsistent communication about care plans. Staffing levels were not always well matched to demand, and improvements made so far had not yet been tested or embedded.
