Orchard House Nursing Home

Orchard House accommodates 31 older people living with dementia and various health conditions including strokes, diabetes, heart complaints, Parkinson's disease and mobility problems. The large, three-floor home with ground floor extensions provides personal support and encourages residents' independence. Residents and visitors reported feeling safe and well cared for, with comments including "This is a good place to live, I feel safe," "The staff are very kind," and "Staff are really helpful and efficient, look after my relative really well." The service has made improvements in risk and medicine management since the last inspection.

The home maintains sufficient staffing levels with robust recruitment procedures and provides staff with appropriate training and support. Staff demonstrate pride in their work and report enjoying the workplace culture. However, some care plans had not been updated to reflect recent changes to residents' health and continence needs, indicating areas where quality assurance systems require further development and embedding of existing practices.
