About Norden House

Norden House, in West Sussex, provides accommodation, nursing and personal care to people including those living with dementia. This assessment was brought forward due to concerns about staff response times to call bells and people's wider wellbeing. Overall the CQC rated the service Good, though there was no registered manager in post at the time, with an interim manager leading improvements to quality assurance and communication with health partners.

Inspectors found people were kept safe and cared for by kind, respectful staff who knew them well, and food and facilities met people's needs. However, call bell audits were not always effective, medication error trends had not always led to lessons learned, and some relatives and residents described communication difficulties and inconsistent response times to call bells.
