This assessment took place on 23 December 2025 and was carried out because of concerns at a similar home run by the same provider and the time since the last inspection.
St Josephs Nursing Home is a nursing home. People in nursing homes receive accommodation and personal care as a single package. CQC regulates both the premises and the care provided, and both were looked at during this inspection.
There was manager registered with CQC. This means that they and the provider are legally responsible for how the service is run and for the quality and safety of the care provided.
There was a lack of oversight which meant some people were at risk of harm. The provider and the registered manager had failed to ensure that all risks to people were managed. Medicines had not always been managed or stored safely. There was a lack of effective oversight of the service to identify and make improvements. Audits and checks were not adequate, and the registered manager had not identified the issues we found during this assessment.
We found shortfalls at the service and identified 4 breaches of regulations relating to safe care and treatment (including risk assessments and medicines management), safety of the premises, safe staffing, and good governance.
We asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this assessment.
