Fulford Care & Nursing Home

This residential care home provides nursing and personal care to up to 74 people living with conditions including Parkinson's disease, dementia, and age-related frailties. At inspection, 60 people were using the service. Quality assurance systems for medicine administration were found to be ineffective, with auditing not robust enough to identify and address concerns around storage, administration, and associated risks. Internal processes had highlighted areas for improvement that were not always addressed or sustained. Recent staffing changes, including a shortage of office and senior clinical staff with deputy managers covering additional duties, impacted managerial oversight of quality and safety. While there were enough staff to meet people's needs overall, deployment was not always effective. A relative commented that their mother sometimes had to wait for toilet assistance due to mobility difficulties. Most people's support needs and associated health risks were appropriately assessed.
