Melrose Care Home

Melrose Care Home provides nursing care for up to 26 older people, with 21 residents at the time of inspection. The home specialises in supporting people with long-term health conditions and end-of-life care. Staff have created an active and extensive activities programme, developing creative initiatives to support well-being and reduce isolation. Activities have included themed events such as Chinese New Year celebrations where residents learnt to write their names in Chinese characters. A monthly newsletter keeps residents and families informed of home events.

The home installed a sealed visiting pod in the conservatory, allowing external access without visitors entering the building and featuring microphones to support communication. Staff were observed wearing appropriate personal protective equipment in line with government guidelines, with plentiful supplies available throughout the home. Staff had completed additional infection prevention and control training to support safe practices.
