Eastcroft Nursing Home

Eastcroft Nursing Home provides personal and nursing care to up to 20 people, primarily older adults and those living with dementia. At inspection, 16 people were using the service. Inspectors found several significant concerns with the quality of care. Risk assessments lacked sufficient detail to guide safe practice, and staff did not consistently follow guidance from healthcare professionals. The provider had not verified that staff administering medicines were competent to do so, and there was no system to oversee staff training or identify low pass rates in competency assessments.

The home had inadequate recruitment procedures and inspectors observed poor hygiene practices during their visit. Staff did not consistently support people to have maximum choice and control over their lives, nor did they apply the least restrictive approach as required by law. The provider was not working consistently within the Mental Capacity Act principles, with capacity assessments and best interest decisions lacking the specificity needed for individual circumstances.
