Coast Care Centre

Coast Care Centre provides nursing care and accommodation for up to 44 adults, with some people supported on a discharge-to-assess basis commissioned by East Sussex County Council. The service cares for adults with nursing needs, including some with dementia. At inspection, 37 people were living at the home.

Inspectors identified gaps in risk assessments, particularly concerning medicine management, diabetes and wound management. The registered manager took immediate steps to complete missing assessments. Staff supported people with maximum choice and control in the least restrictive way possible, though policies and systems did not consistently reflect this practice. Some mental capacity assessments lacked decision-specific detail and it was unclear who participated in best interest meetings. The registered manager addressed these concerns by improving documentation. One care plan was found to lack sufficient detail about a person's care and support needs.
