About Cherington

Cherington is a nursing care home in West Sussex, providing support to older people, including those living with dementia. Details of its most recent CQC inspection are set out below.

Cherington is a residential care home providing support to older people, including those living with dementia and with nursing care needs. The CQC found the service requires improvement overall. Staffing levels and reliance on agency staff affected consistency of care, and not all staff had completed required training.

People were not always treated with dignity and respect, care was often task-led, and there was little meaningful activity or mental stimulation on offer.

Inspectors did find some strengths: the home was clean, medicines were managed safely, and people's healthcare and end of life wishes were well supported. However, governance systems were not robust enough to drive improvement, and inspectors identified breaches relating to staffing, dignity, person-centred care and leadership. The provider has been asked for an action plan.
