Caer Gwent

Caer Gwent is a purpose-built residential care home providing personal and nursing care to up to 61 older people with various health care needs, including some living with dementia. At inspection, 54 people were using the service. Care is provided across separate units on two floors, accessible by lifts and stairs, with communal areas including lounges, dining rooms, a library and gardens.

Inspectors found that medicines management was generally safe and people received their medicines as prescribed. However, some medicines used to treat two people's eyes were being used beyond the manufacturer's recommended timeframe. These were immediately removed and replaced by the registered nurse on duty during the inspection.
