Aarons Specialist Unit

Aarons Specialist Unit provides specialist care and support for people with complex needs. People and relatives told inspectors staff were kind and caring, and that they felt safe living there. The service was clean, well organised, and needs were assessed before admission, with people supported to access healthcare as required.

The CQC found some shortfalls needing improvement, including delays in raising safeguarding concerns externally, insufficient detail in risk assessments and emergency evacuation plans, and inconsistent use of de-escalation before restraint. Staff induction, training and adherence to the Mental Capacity Act also needed strengthening. Despite this, the home was rated Good overall, with relatives describing it as well managed.
