Woodland Park

Woodland Park provides personal and nursing care to up to 31 people in a residential setting near Babbacombe Downs. At inspection, 22 people were using the service. Inspectors identified several quality and safety concerns. Quality assurance systems were not effectively identifying areas for improvement, and medicines audits failed to highlight where changes were needed or who was responsible for implementing them. The home did not ensure a first aid trained staff member was always on duty at night, and maintenance issues with the call bell system prevented the manager from monitoring response times.

Care records lacked sufficient detail to show what care people received daily, and some maintenance tasks including weekly fire tests had not been completed for several weeks. Risk assessments for falls and pressure damage were not always thorough or properly monitored. Safeguarding concerns were not consistently recorded, reported and investigated through effective systems. However, no evidence of harm to individuals was found during the inspection.
