Woodland Court

Woodland Court provides accommodation and personal care for up to 39 people, some of whom may require nursing care. At the time of inspection, 21 people were living at the service, which is located in a residential area of Torquay.

Inspectors found that care was not always planned to reduce risk and records were not always accurately maintained, placing some people at risk of unsafe or inappropriate care. Governance systems to assess and monitor risks relating to health, safety and welfare were not fully effective. People received their medicines as prescribed, though the provider was recommended to seek guidance from an accredited source to ensure medication policies reflect best practice. Staffing levels were deemed safe, with staff reporting they were sufficient. However, some feedback indicated concerns about the timeliness of support received at night. Staff received appropriate safeguarding training and understood different types of abuse.
