Windmill Care Centre in Slough is a nursing home supporting adults of all ages, with capacity for 53 people. The CQC rated the service Requires Improvement overall, following an assessment prompted by concerns about staff bringing children into the service. Inspectors found five breaches of regulation, covering consent, risk management, safeguarding, recruitment and governance, and safety was rated Inadequate.

Medicines were not always managed safely, and risks including distress and sexual safety were not consistently managed to prevent harm. Mental capacity assessments and staff recruitment oversight fell short, and some incidents were not reported to safeguarding promptly. Despite this, most people and relatives told inspectors they felt safe and were treated with kindness, and activities were available to support wellbeing.
