Whitwood Hall

Whitwood Hall accommodates up to 16 people across three separate houses (Saxon, Moore and Lodge), providing support for people with autism, learning disabilities, complex needs and behaviours which may challenge others. At the time of inspection, 11 people were living in the home, each house having separate adapted facilities.

The inspection found that people were not being adequately supported to access the local community in line with their assessed needs. Confusion existed about whether agency workers were permitted to support people away from the home, which limited people's choice and control over their daily routines. Staff were not consistently enabled to support people in the least restrictive way possible, and the service's policies and systems did not support this practice. The provider has since taken action to address these concerns.
