About Whitwood House

Whitwood House is a residential care home in Wakefield, providing personal care for people with learning disabilities and/or autism. Details of the CQC's most recent findings are set out below.

Whitwood House provides personal care for up to 16 people with learning disabilities and/or autism. At the time of the assessment, 11 people were living at the home. The CQC rated the service Good overall, finding that people were supported safely by kind, skilled and respectful staff who knew them well and centred care around their individual needs and wishes.

This assessment followed enforcement action after an earlier breach relating to good governance. Inspectors found the provider had made the necessary improvements, with better oversight, effective quality assurance and a knowledgeable manager providing consistent leadership. Concerns about safety, record keeping and monitoring had all been resolved, and the provider was no longer in breach of regulation.
