About Westbourne House

Westbourne House in Sheffield is a residential care home supporting people of varying ages, some living with a physical disability, mental health conditions or dementia. The CQC rates it inadequate and it remains in special measures, with enforcement action taken against the provider. Inspectors found ongoing problems with medicines management, risk management, staffing levels at night and weak governance, despite some improvements since the last inspection.

Care plans did not always contain clear or consistent information, and oversight of accidents and incidents was ineffective. However, staff were found to be warm and kind, recruitment was safe, and people and relatives spoke positively about feeling happy and safe. The provider has since taken some immediate steps, including increasing night staffing.
