Sunnyside Respite Service

Sunnyside Respite Service supports up to 15 people with learning disabilities, autism, and dementia across two buildings. One building provides respite care for up to four people, while the larger facility offers longer-term support. At the time of inspection, ten people were using the service, with the respite unit unused.

The service demonstrates good practice in maintaining family connections during restricted visiting periods. Relatives can visit safely with advance booking to maintain social distancing, and people are supported to stay in touch through video calls, social media, texts and telephone calls. Infection prevention and control measures are in place, with staff understanding how to prevent infection spread and wearing personal protective equipment in line with current guidance.
