Springfield Lodge Care Home

Springfield Lodge accommodates up to 40 older people, those with physical disabilities and people living with dementia across one adapted building. At inspection, 39 people were using the service. However, inspectors identified several concerns. Medicines and risk management were not consistently safe, and staff had not received adequate training for their roles. Eating and drinking support proved ineffective in some cases, and care records did not always reflect people's individual choices and needs. The provider's governance processes had failed to identify or address these issues. Staff turnover had been significant, requiring regular use of agency staff during recruitment.

On a positive note, the home had safely recruited staff and maintained effective infection prevention and control systems. While people's needs were initially assessed, ongoing reviews were not always sufficiently thorough to ensure care remained appropriate and responsive to changing circumstances.
