Silver Howe

Silver Howe accommodates up to 30 people, including a seven-bed unit for those living with dementia, situated close to Kendal town centre. At inspection, 29 residents were living there.

The home demonstrated robust infection prevention procedures, including temperature checks and risk assessments for all visitors prior to entry. Visitors were able to spend time with loved ones in safe, suitable spaces arranged by appointment. Staff supported families to spend time with people at the end of their lives in a safe and dignified manner. Residents requiring isolation were supported in designated rooms with access to a personal lounge and social area, with dedicated staff allocated to meet their needs. The home also supported residents in using technology such as Zoom and Facetime to maintain contact with friends and family. The registered manager followed safe procedures when admitting new people to the home.
