Silver Howe

Silver Howe, in Westmorland and Furness, provides personal care and accommodation for up to 30 older people, including those living with dementia. The CQC found the service requires improvement overall, with breaches relating to safe care and treatment and good governance. Records around risk, accidents and medicines were not always accurate or well managed, and inspectors were not fully assured staffing levels were sufficient, though staff understood safeguarding and received training.

Staff were found to be kind, attentive and respectful, and people spoke warmly of the care and food. However, some residents described limited activities and long waits for call bells, and quality checks had not always picked up the issues inspectors identified. The registered manager responded promptly to concerns raised and was described as supportive and approachable.
