About Sheridan House

Sheridan House is a residential care home in Central Bedfordshire, providing personal care and support for people with learning disabilities and autism. The details below set out the CQC's most recent findings on the service.

Sheridan House provides personal care and support to nine people with learning disabilities and autism in a large two-storey building. Each person has their own bedroom with ensuite facilities, and residents share access to a dining room, lounge, kitchen and large garden.

The home demonstrates effective communication and person-centred practice around health matters. The registered manager created social stories in easy-read formats to help people understand COVID-19 testing, explaining what to expect and why tests were necessary. People were encouraged to have weekly tests but could choose whether to participate and where the test would take place—one person opted to be tested on the home's mini bus.

All residents and staff had individual COVID-19 risk assessments with clear information on safety measures and infection control. The manager also developed a business continuity plan identifying areas of the building that could be used during outbreaks.
