Roscarrack House

Roscarrack House provides personal and nursing care to up to 19 older people, with 16 residents at the time of inspection. The service experienced a fire in a resident's room caused by an electric heater with a radiator cover pressing on the cable. While the service has since taken remedial action, some risks had not been consistently identified, assessed and reviewed. Staff lacked a systematic approach to checking pressure relieving mattresses, which are essential for protecting residents' skin from damage, and inspectors found these were not always set correctly for individual users.

A significant concern emerged regarding safety management. One resident living with dementia left the service unnoticed on two separate occasions in October and December 2022, indicating lapses in supervision and monitoring systems that put vulnerable residents at risk.
