About Carrick

Carrick is a residential care home in Cornwall, supporting people with a learning disability and autistic people. The findings below set out what the CQC observed during its most recent inspection.

Carrick is a care home for people with a learning disability and autistic people, supporting a small number of residents. The CQC found the service had made improvements since its last assessment and now rates it as Good overall. Inspectors saw that people were settled and relaxed, treated fairly, and supported by staff who communicated with them according to their preferences, with varied activities reflecting individual interests.

However, the CQC found some shortfalls remained. Checks on whether new residents were compatible with others living there were not robust, which had at times put people's emotional wellbeing at risk, and there was no formal system for recording people's views. Further work was also needed on the environment and on helping people identify and meet personal goals.
