Queensmount Care Home

Queensmount Care Home provides personal and nursing care to up to 49 older adults, with 47 people using the service at inspection. Staff have been empowered to speak up and address poor practice while promoting equality and diversity. People told inspectors they felt safe and trusted the staff team. A person-centred approach has enabled positive risk taking that respects people's rights and freedoms. The home has introduced innovative therapies to manage risks associated with mental wellbeing, new equipment to reduce skin damage and falls risks, and health and safety training includes mock emergency scenarios to ensure staff competence.

Staff recruitment includes thorough checks to ensure suitability, and people are supported by sufficient staffing levels. Care is delivered in the least restrictive way possible, respecting people's choice and control over their lives. Staff undertake induction and ongoing training to carry out their roles effectively. People's eating and drinking needs are understood and met.
