Oakleigh Lodge Residential Home

The following is CQC's published account of its assessment, published 13 August 2025. References to “we” mean CQC. It describes findings at that time.

Date of Assessment: 4 14 July 2025. Oakleigh Lodge Residential Home provides accommodation for older people, some of whom were living with dementia. Our assessment was prompted by the length of time since the last inspection, and the previous rating of the service. We had previously identified areas of improvement needed in respect to staffing levels and the deployment of staff, staff training, staff following external health professionals’ guidance, the management of medicines and person-centred care planning. We found that the required improvements had been made. People received good care that met their needs and protected their rights. The provider had a good learning culture and people could raise concerns. People were protected and kept safe. Staff understood and managed risks. The facilities and equipment met people’s needs. There were enough staff with the right skills and experience. Managers made sure staff received training and regular appraisals to maintain high-quality care.

People were involved in assessments of their needs. Staff worked with all agencies involved in people’s care for the best outcomes. They monitored people’s health to support healthy living. Staff involved those important to people in people’s best interests where they did not have capacity.

People were treated with kindness and compassion. Staff protected their privacy and dignity. They treated them as individuals and supported their preferences. People had choice in their care and were encouraged to maintain relationships with family and friends. Staff responded to people in a timely way. The provider supported staff wellbeing. Leaders and staff had a shared vision and culture based on listening, learning and trust. Staff felt supported to give feedback and were treated equally. The provider worked with the local community and there was a culture of continuous improvement.
