Northlands Care Home (Northumberland)

Northlands Care Home in Northumberland provides nursing and residential care for older people, including those living with dementia, with nursing needs, mental health conditions or physical disabilities. Following a previous inspection that found breaches around safety, nutrition, consent, staffing and governance, the CQC found significant improvements under new management, and the home was no longer rated inadequate. It has now come out of special measures.

Inspectors found people well cared for, with kind and attentive staff, sufficient staffing, and better monitoring of nutrition and hydration. People and relatives praised the calmer atmosphere, food and management, though the CQC suggested further work to involve people living with dementia in meal choices.
