Gainsborough House provides personal and nursing care to up to 72 people across three separate wings, each with adapted facilities. At the time of inspection, 68 people were using the service. Medicines were managed safely, and the home had addressed issues identified at the previous inspection. Care plans and risk assessments were person-centred and detailed, regularly reviewed and updated to reflect people's wishes and needs. Staff supported people to have maximum choice and control of their lives in the least restrictive way possible, and inspectors saw evidence that people's beliefs, choices and rights were respected.

The home had effective quality assurance processes in place, and staff recruitment was safe with sufficient staff on duty to meet people's needs. Risks to health and safety had been assessed and mitigated appropriately, with equipment properly serviced and maintained. Accidents and incidents were recorded and reviewed to minimise the risk of reoccurrence. Feedback from people and their relatives confirmed that staff ensured their views and preferences were valued.
