Lauriston

Lauriston provides nursing and personal care for up to 60 people, some living with dementia, across three units over two floors. At the time of inspection, 36 people were residents. Staff were trained to recognise signs of abuse and understood how to safely support people. Medicines were given safely by appropriately trained and competent staff, and people had care plans and risk assessments in place to promote their safety and well-being. The home was clean, well-maintained and comfortable.

However, improvements were still needed in some areas. Record keeping regarding hydration support lacked clarity and accuracy, with fluid charts recorded inconsistently, which could affect staff's ability to monitor people's health effectively. Care plans on the nursing unit required further development to ensure a holistic approach to care. The provider's governance systems had improved and were being used more consistently to drive improvement within the service.
