About John Turner House

John Turner House is a residential short break service in Suffolk for autistic people and people with learning disabilities. Details of the CQC's most recent findings are set out below.

This short break service provides accommodation and support for up to 8 autistic people and people with learning disabilities. The facility includes 7 rooms, 4 with en-suite bathrooms, 2 bedrooms equipped with ceiling track hoists, and 1 self-contained flat. Staff knew people well and supported them to be as independent as possible during their break, taking into account their individual communication needs and preferences.

People received person-centred care with maximum choice and control over their lives, supported in the least restrictive way possible. Staff observed people's privacy, dignity and confidentiality, treating them with respect. The service maintained enough suitably trained, recruited and supervised staff to meet people's needs, with risks regularly monitored and assessed so support could be adapted where needed.
