Goldenley Care Home

This care home accommodates up to 41 older people, including those living with dementia, with 22 residents at inspection. The service maintained strong family connections during lockdown through regular video and telephone calls, with the manager sending frequent emails and holding virtual meetings to keep relatives informed and involved in care decisions. Activities were creatively adapted to keep people engaged, including virtual entertainment streamed in communal areas and virtual conversations between residents of different homes. Those isolating in bedrooms received one-to-one activity support.

The provider demonstrated thoughtful infection prevention measures by creating a dedicated area with COVID-19 testing equipment, PPE, and sanitising facilities. Staff wellbeing was prioritized during the outbreak period, with guidance provided on self-care and additional support available. Regular meetings were held where staff could discuss their feelings, share positive memories, and support one another through the challenging period.
