Downham Grange

This nursing home accommodates up to 62 people requiring nursing or residential care, including those living with dementia. At inspection, 56 people were using the service. The purpose-built facility is set over two floors with lift access and includes several communal areas and gardens.

Inspectors found significant safety concerns. Areas of the care environment were visibly unclean, increasing infection risk. Hazardous items including denture cleaning tablets, personal care products and prescribed creams were not being stored securely, putting residents at risk of accidental consumption. Management of pressure ulcer prevention, choking risks, and monitoring of fluid and nutritional intake was poor. Diabetes care required improvement to support people's long-term healthcare needs. Medicines management was unsafe, with prescribed medications running out and not being re-ordered in time, leaving people without access to their medications.
