Deer Park Care Centre

Deer Park Care Centre is a residential care home providing personal care to adults, some of whom need support with mental health conditions. The CQC carried out this assessment because of concerns about how risk was managed when people expressed distress through non-verbal actions. Inspectors found staffing levels and training were adequate, and staff knew people well, but guidance for supporting distressed or anxious residents remained limited and lessons from incidents were not used to update care plans.

People told inspectors they felt safe and were supported to be independent, and relatives said staff responded well to individual needs. However, some people had previously been placed at risk of harm by others' actions when distressed. The overall rating remains requires improvement.
