Church Walk

Church Walk provides personal and nursing care for up to 18 people with complex physical and neurological conditions, including Huntington's Disease, acquired brain injury, early onset dementia, and mental health needs. At inspection, 13 people were supported across two separate units. Inspectors found that support plans did not always consider how people's health needs affected their behaviour, and the manager and clinical nurse lead agreed to review care plans to address this. Staff demonstrated enthusiasm for learning more about the conditions affecting the people they supported.

The service has a new manager described by residents as approachable, who has worked to foster a more open culture. Relatives reported feeling positive about the home and confirmed their family members were safe, with regular contact maintained and updates provided about changes in the service. The home maintained high standards of cleanliness and hygiene, with appropriate infection prevention and control procedures in place. Staff recruitment and medicines management were handled safely, and staff had access to necessary personal protective equipment.
