Rakewood House Care Home

Rakewood House Care Home provides personal care and nursing care for up to 30 older people, those with physical disabilities, and people living with dementia. The home accommodates residents on the ground floor and was caring for 24 people at the time of inspection. It was established in September 2022 when the larger Carders Court Care Home was split into five separate registered services.

Inspectors found that staffing levels were a concern, with most people reporting delays when needing support from staff. Risks to people's health and safety were not always managed well, and staff did not consistently follow safe infection control practices, leaving people potentially at risk of infection. However, staff recruitment procedures were safe, and medicines were managed safely in line with national guidance. Staff demonstrated knowledge of safeguarding procedures and knew how to respond if people were at risk of abuse.
