About Cary Brook

Cary Brook is a residential care home in Somerset, providing personal care for older people, including those living with dementia. Further detail on the CQC's most recent findings is set out below.

Cary Brook is a residential home in Somerset providing personal care and accommodation for up to 45 people, specialising in support for older people living with dementia. The CQC rated the service Good overall, finding significant improvement since the last assessment, when the provider had been in breach of regulation over governance, medicines safety and environmental risk management. That breach has now been resolved, with effective quality assurance systems and a strong learning culture in place.

Inspectors found staff were well trained, warm and person-centred, with good staffing levels and morale, though some staff raised concerns about long day shifts, which the provider was reviewing. Relatives praised the kindness of staff and the calm, homely atmosphere. Care plans were personalised, medicines were managed safely, and end-of-life care was delivered compassionately.
