About Blackberry Hill

Blackberry Hill is a residential care home in Somerset, providing accommodation for younger autistic adults and people with a learning disability. The findings below set out the CQC's most recent assessment of the service.

Blackberry Hill is a residential care home in Somerset supporting 10 younger autistic adults and people with a learning disability. The CQC rated the service Requires Improvement overall. Inspectors found gaps in fire safety checks, weaknesses in how the Mental Capacity Act was applied, and governance systems that were not robust enough to consistently identify or address risks, leading to a breach of regulations.

An action plan has been requested.

On the positive side, inspectors found staff to be kind, caring and skilled, with good access to healthcare and meaningful activities. Medicines were managed well and relatives described a caring ethos, with people supported to make choices and live fulfilling lives, though a few raised concerns about crowding, staffing and food.
