Buxton Lodge Care Home

Buxton Lodge Care Home is a nursing home providing care and support to older people living with dementia, some of whom also have a learning disability. The CQC rated the service as requiring improvement overall, finding breaches relating to safe care and treatment, staff training and support, and governance. Risk assessments and medicines management were not always reliable, and the home was going through a change in management at the time of the assessment.

Despite this, inspectors found people spoke warmly of their care, feeling safe and well supported. Staff knew people well, worked well together, and offered varied, person-centred activities. There were enough safely recruited staff, and the home maintained good links with external professionals.
