Beechwood House

Beechwood House provides personal care to five people with learning disabilities. During the inspection, staff did not consistently support people to have maximum choice and control over their lives. People were not always encouraged to pursue their own interests and decisions were sometimes made for them rather than with them. Staff lacked training in supporting autonomy and independence, limiting opportunities for residents to develop skills and make meaningful choices about daily activities.

The home failed to ensure people had good access to local communities. Residents spent significant time indoors with limited community engagement or recreational opportunities. Staff did not actively facilitate connections with local services, activities, or social groups that would enhance quality of life. Additionally, the service did not have clear plans to support people's health needs, with medication management and health monitoring requiring improvement to ensure people received appropriate care.
