Ash Lodge Care Home with Nursing

Ash Lodge provides personal care and accommodation for up to seventy older people and people with dementia, with sixty-four residents at the time of inspection. The service has safeguarding systems in place and staff follow risk assessments to keep people safe. Medicines are administered safely and in line with prescriptions, with sufficient staffing levels to minimise harm. Staff seek consent before providing care and consider individual communication needs to involve people in their support.

However, the provider was not consistently working in line with the Mental Capacity Act principles. Some people identified as lacking capacity had missing information on capacity assessments and best interest decisions, which put them at risk of being deprived of their liberty without lawful authority. Staff spoke positively about working at the home.
