Appleby Court Care Home

Appleby Court provides accommodation, personal and nursing care for up to 60 people, some of whom live with dementia, across two floors with separate adapted facilities. At inspection, 19 people were using the service, all accommodated on the ground floor. The home uses an electronic care planning system to document risk assessments and care plans that set out risks to people's health, safety and wellbeing alongside guidance for staff on providing safe care. Safe infection prevention and control procedures were followed, and the safety, hygiene and cleanliness of the environment, equipment and utilities were regularly monitored through checks and audits.

Managers and staff understood their safeguarding responsibilities, and allegations of abuse were promptly referred to relevant authorities with well-maintained records. People told inspectors they felt safe, and family members confirmed this. The home has increased completion of safeguarding training among staff since the previous inspection.
