Westwood Care Home

This care home provides personal and nursing care to up to 16 older people, some living with dementia, across two floors. Accommodation includes a stair lift for accessibility. The service has safely recruited staff with adequate numbers to meet people's needs, and systems are in place to monitor and manage safety through regular audits and checks. A positive culture is evident, with staff feeling confident in the management team and supported in their roles.

However, staff were not always trained and assessed as competent to administer medicines, an issue identified at the previous inspection where improvements had not been made. Protocols for "as and when required" medicines need more guidance, particularly for people unable to communicate their needs. The provider is also addressing environmental issues, including carpet replacement needed on the ground floor.
