Westvale House

Westvale House is a purpose-built care home providing accommodation, personal care, and nursing care for up to 61 people. At inspection, 36 residents were living there. While safeguarding policies were in place and staff understood their responsibilities, governance processes were not always effective in monitoring the service. Auditing tools had failed to identify several concerns found during the inspection, and incident investigations were not consistently thorough. People reported feeling safe.

However, safe medicine administration practices were not always followed, and oversight of medicines was not robust enough to ensure people received them safely. Staff deployment was sometimes inappropriate, with residents left for extended periods without their assessed level of support. The home has recently recruited new staff and adjusted roles for existing team members, which appears to be having a positive impact on the service.
