Western Mount Lodge Nursing Home

Western Mount Lodge Nursing Home provides nursing and personal care for up to 18 people with mental health needs in Derby City. At inspection, 16 people were living there. Staff received training and completed induction programmes, with experienced staff supporting newer team members. People's health and care needs were regularly assessed with up-to-date care plans and risk assessments. Staff knew residents' dietary preferences and supported them with meals and drinks, while infection prevention and control practices were followed throughout the service.

The home supported people to have maximum choice and control in their lives, with staff using the least restrictive approaches. Other health and social care professionals were involved in people's care when needed. Residents were encouraged to raise concerns through regular meetings, and both people using the service and staff were supported to give their views. The home undertook audits to monitor and drive improvement.
