Tottle Brook House

The following is CQC's published account of its assessment, published 10 February 2026. References to “we” mean CQC. It describes findings at that time.

Date of assessment 11 November 2025. We announced our visit to the provider, to ensure they could prepare people for our visit.

Tottle Brook House is a purpose-built service, with people living in their own flatlets on site. The service has shared communal facilities, and an accessible, well maintained garden area. The service is registered to provide accommodation with personal care, for a maximum of 5 people. On the date of our assessment, 5 people were living at Tottle Brook House.

The assessment was completed by 1 inspector and 1 Expert by Experience. Experts by Experience are people who have lived experiences of a specific service type and who engage with people to obtain their views of the care and support they receive.

The service has a registered manager in place.

An assessment has been undertaken of a specialist service that is used by autistic people or people with a learning disability.We have assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.

The service provided exceptionally tailored care, support and treatment from a compassionate, trained staff team, who were skilled, knowledgeable, and able to meet people’s needs. Managers ensured that staff had relevant training, regular supervision and appraisal. If restrictive practices were used, there was a reporting system in place and there were comprehensive reviews to try and reduce the use of these practices.Staff fully understood their roles and responsibilities under the Human Rights Act 1998, Equality Act 2010, Mental Health Act 1983 and the Mental Capacity Act 2005.

Staff supported people with recognised models of care and best practice for people with a learning disability or autistic people. Leadership was excellent, and governance processes helped the service to keep people safe, protect their human rights and provide good care and support. The ethos, values, attitudes and behaviours of leaders and care staff ensure people using services lead confident, inclusive and empowered lives.The model of care and setting fully maximised people’s choice, control and independence. Care provision was exceptionally person-centred, ensuring people’s dignity, privacy and human rights were fully respected.

The service had built up a positive partnership approach, to ensure people were supported by a fully wrap-around care team. Feedback we received from all partners was positive. With external teams praising the approach of the management and staff team.
