The Well House

The Well House, in East Sussex, is a residential care home providing support and personal care to up to 14 people with a learning disability and autistic people, including some on a short-stay respite basis. The CQC rated the home Requires Improvement overall, finding continued breaches around safe care and treatment and governance first identified in 2022. Risk assessments were not kept up to date, cleanliness and fire safety were not fully managed, and medicines were not always stored safely.

Inspectors found staff were caring and treated people with dignity, and people and families spoke highly of the support provided. However, management arrangements were unstable, quality monitoring systems were not established, and the environment did not fully support people's independence and choice.
