The Rubens

The Rubens is a care home providing residential care and support to older people. This assessment followed earlier concerns about safeguarding and staff recruitment, and it checked on breaches found previously around governance and consent. The CQC found these had been resolved, with capacity assessments, DoLS applications, and quality monitoring systems now working effectively, and staff training and care records kept up to date.

Inspectors found some staff recruitment checks had not been completed, though the registered manager acted quickly and no one was affected. People felt safe and well cared for, describing a homely, welcoming atmosphere. Staff were kind, respectful and knew people well, and relatives spoke highly of the warmth and friendliness shown throughout the home.
