The Royal

The Royal provides residential personal and nursing care for up to 57 people, including those living with dementia. At inspection, 49 people were using the service. While the home had systems in place to manage risks and safeguard people from abuse, with staff trained in safeguarding procedures, there were significant concerns about infection control and medicines management. Several areas required deep cleaning and some seating was heavily stained and unclean. Systems for monitoring medicine administration were not always effective in ensuring people received prescribed medications as intended. The provider's quality monitoring processes had not consistently identified these issues, and where problems were noted through internal audits, corrective actions were not completed promptly.
