About The Laurels
The Laurels is a residential care home serving the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole area, offering a familiar and homely setting for adults who need a little extra support. Families looking for care in this part of Dorset will find a small, community-focused home where the aim is to help residents feel comfortable and valued in their day-to-day lives.
The Laurels accommodates up to 20 people across two floors, with stairs and a stair lift providing access. At the time of inspection, 13 people were living there. The home provides residential care and support to vulnerable adults.
Governance systems required improvement, as existing procedures were not effectively identifying shortfalls within the service. Statutory notifications had not been submitted to CQC as required. Safety checks were not consistently carried out as planned, leaving gaps in ensuring people lived in a safe environment.
Upon being informed, the provider took immediate action to address these issues by arranging external support.
