The Larches - Tiverton

The Larches-Tiverton is a residential care home providing personal care to up to 20 people aged 65 and over with physical disabilities or dementia. The service operates from a large detached property in the market town of Tiverton near the Grand Western canal, with bedrooms on the ground and first floor accessible by lift. At inspection, 17 people were using the service.

Inspectors found that medicines were not always safely managed, with practices not aligned to the provider's medicines policy, putting people at risk. Fire safety procedures were also inadequate, though improvements were made during the inspection. Staff levels had been reduced without clear communication, and staff expressed concerns that staffing numbers were insufficient to support people safely.
