The Larches - Tiverton

The Larches in Tiverton is a residential care home providing personal care to up to 20 older people, including those living with a physical disability or dementia. The CQC rated the service inadequate overall and placed it in special measures, following concerns about recruitment practices and how the home was run. Inspectors found repeated breaches around safety, safeguarding, staffing, dignity and governance, with environmental risks, poor medicines management and unsafe recruitment all identified.

Staff turnover had left the home without a consistent manager for around four months, unsettling both staff and families. A new manager had recently started and was described as approachable, beginning work to address the concerns raised. People and relatives spoke warmly of staff as kind and caring, though worries remained about staffing instability and unresolved billing issues.
